About me
My name is David Keane and I've been working as an osteopath I.O. since 2014. My interest in osteopathy stemmed from the benefits it offered to me as an often injured rugby player and that curiosty grew into a career where I can share these benefits with others. My training of 4200 hours was undertaken at ENOSI school of osteopathy and I've continued on to complete training in various corrective and postural exercises (Myofascial stretching, ELDOA, Global Postural Stretching).
About you
My mission is to collaborate with you in uncovering your unique path to optimal health, enabling you to excel on your terms in the areas of life that hold significance for you. I utilize osteopathic techniques and targeted movements to empower you, fostering greater autonomy over your health. Additionally, I guide you in cultivating awareness around positive habits and mindset that contribute to your well-being. I'm excited about the opportunity to work with you on your journey to a healthier, more fulfilling life!

How do I book an osteopathy treatment with David?Click on any of the 'Book Appointment' links and select the location and time that works best for you.
-
Is Osteopathy covered by insurance and/or medicare? Most insurers cover osteopathy treatments, and it’s best to check with me and your insurance company to be sure of your coverage. Osteopathy treatments are not currently covered by medicare.
-
What do I wear to my osteopathy session?Wear comfortable, flexible clothes such as shorts (and a sports top/bra for women). We will observe and test your mobility during a session so it’s important that you don’t have restrictive clothing.
-
How do I prepare for my osteopathy treatment? You should avoid eating too much or consuming caffeine just prior to your osteopathy session. We are working to encourage healing in your body and want to support the nervous system calming down.
-
Are osteopathy treatments safe?Yes they are.
-
Do I need a referral from my doctor? You do not need a referral although more and more doctors are referring their patients for osteopathy treatments.
-
What should I expect during my osteopathy session? The session starts with a conversation about the reason for your consultation and will also cover your medical history and lifestyle factors. There will be physical movement tests, a hands on treatment component, and as needed recommended follow-ups, exercises, or referrals to other specialists.
-
Does an osteopathy treatment hurt?It shouldn’t! You might sometimes experience a mild discomfort during your session but most people’s experience from their treatment is one of relief and ease. Your body may sometimes be tired and sore for a couple of days after your treatment and this will typically subside and result in increased freedom of movement. Think of it as your body leveling up and as a sign that things are evolving and healing.
-
When should I see an osteopath?Clients usually see me for one of the following 3 reasons: 1. Client comes in with a condition they want to address (injury, posture, addressing pain, mobility restrictions, etc…). 2. Clients have a baseline of well being and want to pursue preventative care. Ie: like getting your oil changed on your car. 3. Clients are doing well and want to take their performance to the next level. It could be athletic performance, or playing with kids/grandkids without pain, or any other goal that requires a healthy body that moves freely.
-
Why should I see an osteopath? You should see an osteopath if you are interested in being at the source of expanding your own well-being and you see the benefit of having a highly trained, holistic (whole body) practitioner in your corner for this process. An osteopath will support you via manual, hands-on techniques, by recommending movements or lifestyle choices that are appropriate to your needs.
-
How many times will I have to see my osteopath? As each person's situation is different there isn't a recipe as to how many times you'll see an osteopath. What's important to know is that my intention is to help you achieve your goal as quickly as possible at a pace that's appropriate to you. On average, people with acute (new) injuries should expect to see me for roughly 3 to 6 sessions. Chronic conditions (more than 3 months) or conditions that weren't caused by any accident might require a longer treatment protocol. Many people make osteopathy a regular part of their well-being plan and see their osteopath for prevention and performance.
-
How long are the sessions/treatments?The sessions last for a total of 1 hour.
-
What is the healing philosophy of osteopathy?Osteopathy is a patient-centered, holistic manual therapy that supports your body’s natural healing ability to help you restore balance and optimal health. It is based on the principles that your body functions as a whole and should be treated as such. If one part of your body is in dysfunction or disease (dis-ease), then the rest of the body compensates, possibly resulting in pain, inflammation, injury or disease.
-
What is your cancellation policy?Cancellation policy: To ensure all clients have access to services we require 24 hours notice for cancellations or changes to appointments. A cancellation fee of the cost of the session will be charged.
